ABOUT THE ROLE

Position Overview:

We are looking for a talented and driven Head of Major Gifts to lead our efforts in building and nurturing relationships with key donors, including individuals, and corporate & family foundations.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and effective communicator with a proven track record of securing major gifts of $10,000 and above.

This is a critical role within the Leadership Team, and the Head of Major Gifts will play a key role in advancing the mission of United Way Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors, ensuring timely and meaningful interactions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align major gift opportunities with United Way’s strategic priorities.
  • Plan and execute personalized cultivation and stewardship events or activities for major donors.
  • Research and identify new prospects, leveraging networks and data to grow the donor base.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and tailored communication to solicit major gifts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all major donor interactions and contributions using Hubspot CRM.
  • Report on major gift progress and achievement of fundraising goals.
 
ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate for this role will ideally have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in not-for-profit fundraising, with a focus on major gift solicitation.
  • Proven success in securing major gifts of $10,000 or more.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, board members, and volunteers.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using donor management / CRM software.
  • Passion for the mission of United Way and commitment to fostering donor engagement.
