Job description

Great opportunity to lead programming of major capital works projects in a client-side capacity, you will be tertiary qualified in Construction, Project Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or Engineering along with 8+ years’ experience programming of major Capex building upgrades $50M+ and new build projects within Healthcare, Defence, Federal Government, State Government, Airports or Tertiary Education.

Base Criteria

Ideally degree-qualified in Architecture, Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or Engineering along with a strong understanding of Capital Investment Projects.

Outline Duties

Lead and manage the programming of capital works projects, you will be responsible for development of project management documentation.

You will drive Business Case development through to project delivery.

Key is the ability to develop and manage detailed project implementation plans, including comprehensive risk analysis; and undertake significant stakeholder management activities - Clinical Directors, Consultants, Executive Leadership and Technical SME's.

Skills and Attributes 

  • Over 10 years’ industry experience, you will have gained at least 8 years Project Planning / Programme Management experience within an organisation delivering Major Capital Works to a large, complex portfolio - healthcare, defence, university, or similar.

  • You will have excellent Project Planning skills, able to lead project documentation (including scope of works briefings with the internal team or Consultants), Drive Business Cases, set and agree proposed project timescales and costings.

  • You will be able to determine projects' risks – including internal, external, financial, time-sensitivity or environmental.

  • An excellent communicator, with strong English language skills, you will provide clear and concise advise and support to internal stakeholders, along with instructions and seek direction from consultants, and clearly communicate at Director and Executive-level to seek clarification.

  • You will be innovative and able to deliver new solutions to challenges and ensure suitable Quality, Governance, Risk and Compliance frameworks are identified and established to support the project.

  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and advise on capital works, design, documentation, and construction.

  • Engaging personality and strong presentation skills – you will be able to network and lead discussions at an executive level, while still working with a variety of interested parties / stakeholders of varying backgrounds and technical awareness.
