Position Objective:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising the modular construction production process, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing resources, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Leading hands and members of the logistics team report into this role.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
Function Specific Tasks:
- Manage / Adjust / Enforce the production program across the Factory and Yard.
- Communicate with all subcontractors the production program and ensure active communication takes place to manage the day to day adjustments.
- Understand/resolve company labour or Subcontractor resource overallocation across the production program and ensure overallocation is resolved.
- Work alongside the Construction Manager and Operations Manager to hire new employees to fill shortfalls in the labourer resources.
- Coordinate the movement of buildings within the factory as they progress through the stages of construction.
- On a day-to-day basis liaise and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure they understand project milestones and programs and are completing works as agreed.
- On a day-to-day basis liaise and co-ordinate with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered on time to ensure the production process is not hindered.
- Lead / Manage the Quality assurance process in the form of the ITP’s and ensure the entire process is completed for each project efficiently.
- Liaise with Carpentry teams and Subcontractors with regards to ITP’s and make sure all defects identified are closed out in a timely manner.
- Liaise with the Logistics Team to ensure they are informed of the production program and changes that may affect planned materials allocations.
- Understand/resolve construction detailing issues with the labour teams and design department.
- Oversee / Manage the logistics team to ensure the team is effectively and efficiently completing their designated tasks.
- Manage and allocate the companies internal labour resources to production tasks with a clear understanding of allowed task durations and communicating this to the workers.
- Manage / Adjust the re-allocation of staff on a day to day basis due to staff returning from site and / or due to inclement weather.
- Develop and implement task specific standard operating procedures for the companies labour teams to standardise how a specific production task is completed in the most efficient manner.
- Manage / Co-ordinate projects to ensure they are “lift out ready”, which includes defect free, materials packed in for completion, taped, cleaned.
- Program and plan the placement and movement of projects in the yard and factory to align with company commitments and overarching 3 monthly programs.
- Liaise with Procurement Manager to ensure all purchase orders for materials and subcontractors are issued in sufficient time to ensure the production program is not affected.
- Participate as a key member of the Management Team to efficiently and profitably grow the business including;
- Coordinate with the Design Department to resolve detailing issues, tweaks/changes to improve production processes.
- Coordinate with Site Installation team to continually look to improve installation and completion safety and efficiency of the Ex-Factory product.
- Coordinate with Sales and Marketing Department to identify areas of innovation including new product offerings.
- Develop and maintain intricate knowledge of world-leading and best practice modular production techniques and innovations, assess and recommend capital and operational upgrades taking into account costs vs benefits.
- Maintain and Develop Factory & Yard Plans/Layouts for upgrades to existing facilities and also potential new factories and/or potential new leases.
- Ensure all workers entering the yard and factory are signed in, site inducted and are working in accordance with their SWMS. Including ensuring the correct permits are completed i.e. hot works. Assisted by the Construction Administrator.
- Operate the forklift and gantry as required to assist in the production process.
- Undertake any other work tasks that are reasonably requested.
- Uphold the values of the Organisation that are described in our Policies.
- Aim to achieve the targets and KPIs that are defined by the Organisation.
- Follow the Procedures, Work Instructions and workflows shown in Flow Charts and other documents.
- Gather the required information using forms (electronic or manual) and submit to the relevant person.
- Manage records and other data that comes into your possession according to our processes.
- Aim to achieve production outputs that are efficient, error free and profitable.
- Ownership and further development of procedures associated with your role.
- Assist/lead in the development and implementation of the Integrated Management System.
- Ensure compliance to relevant Management System Standards, including participating in audits as required.
- Ensure that any actual or potential hazards are highlighted and rectified as soon as is reasonably practicable.
- Identify & develop more efficient processes and procedures for the organisation, ensuring that waste elimination and continuous improvement become the culture of the Organisation.
- Ensure that all processes are adequately documented and that documents are controlled.
- Implement new processes and procedures as they become available for use and train personnel in those processes, keeping records of training completed.
- Keep a skills matrix, and periodically complete a skills review with a view to training relevant personnel, ensuring sufficient skills are available for the efficient running of the Organisation.
- Monitor performance of processes according to agreed objectives and targets, taking corrective actions to achieve targets where required, holding relevant persons accountable.
- Take any necessary corrective actions if any of the above points are not met, within the scope of your responsibility and ability, including the use of temporary and permanent corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development of training programs (both internally and externally provided) in accordance with the training and development plan for your area of responsibility.
- Participate in ongoing training and development and seek out opportunities to continuously improve your skills.
- Minimum 2–5 years of proven experience in a Production Management position or similar role (example: Production Foreman)
- In-depth understanding of modular construction processes.
- Strong grasp of Lean manufacturing principles and process optimisation strategies.
- Proficiency in production planning, scheduling, and workflow management.
- Ability to analyse production data to monitor performance and implement improvements.
- Capacity to manage resources efficiently, including labour, materials, and equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of Environmental, Quality, and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Management Systems, including their development, implementation, and ongoing improvement to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organisational objectives.
- Strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Valid car licence.
- Valid forklift licence.
- Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Effective in coordinating teams to execute key projects and tasks, including taking accurate minutes and ensuring follow-up on action items as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Actively participate in and support strategic initiatives and improvement projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in IT systems and adept at utilising common technologies and devices effectively.
- Ability to coach Team Members and other staff where required to provide them with the skills to undertake their work to the highest standards
