The Company:

Our client is a nationally recognised, highly established Civil Landscape and Civil  Construction company and due to continued growth are looking to hire an experienced civil landscaping estimator join their busy team in Sydney.

The Role:

A rare opportunity has now become available for an experienced estimator join a highly respected and established company, creating tenders on Civil Landscape Projects valued between $1 Million and $40 Million. 
 
Key purpose of the role is to provide support to the estimating team by assisting in the preparation of tender submissions and project procurement.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

Preparation of Tender Submission
  • Gather proposals, blueprints, review project documentation, plans, details and specifications of project
  • Identify labour, material, and time requirements using provided documentation
  • Prepare conforming tender submission to the highest possible standard
  • Prepare Non-conforming tender submissions with well-constructed and detailed supporting documentation and costs.
  • Prepare the highest quality methodology documentation applicable to the contract works.
  • Prepare detailed construction programs ensuring risk mitigation for the business by way of well-thought-out critical paths that highlight the requirements of other parties for program deadlines to be achieved.
Tenders
  • Manage and review ALL tender documents and determine how best to approach the project and who is best suited to price the tender.
  • Visit site, attend pre-tender meetings
  • Consult other team members for the best methodology and possible VE options.
  • Ensure accurate take-offs are completed and that supplied BOQs are thoroughly scrutinized
  • Thoroughly review sub-contractor pricing paying attention to excluded works.
  • Organise for sub-contractor and supply quotes to be received before tender deadline
  • Input estimate into Benchmark
  • Update the CRM or Excel Tender database file to simplify tracking of tenders, quotes and estimates
  • Engage in timely tender reviews with the State Manager/ MD before submitting any tenders
  • Review submitted documentation and send packages to contractors for cost estimates as early as possible to help provide accurate pricing.
Team Correspondence
  • Liaise with the Senior Estimator and Regional Manager during the Tender GO/No Go process
  • Liaise with the Senior Estimator and Regional Manager during the Tender period identifying opportunities and progress with the bid.
  • Once awarded Liaise with Project Managers during the project to obtain feedback on estimates and modify benchmark price database accordingly
  • Actively offer and communicate value engineering opportunities where we see value for the client and GLC. Adopt an innovative mindset looking at every opportunity to provide a competitive advantage.
Training
  • Participate in training as directed
  • Help upskill junior estimators and cadets
Health and Safety
  • Provide relevant WHS policies, procedures and guidelines to contractors and subcontractors post-award
  • Comply with all Health and Safety Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
Other Duties
  • Assist construction teams with high-value variation pricing.
  • Assist construction teams with procurement where time permits.
Role Requirements:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of industry experience as an estimator
  • Sound knowledge of estimating
  • Detailed understanding of landscape / civil processes
  • Solid time management and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prepare high-quality tender correspondence
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft Office (excel, word and MS Project)
  • Computer skills with estimating software (Benchmark, Buildsoft and Cubic) – preferred but not essential
  • Computer skills with measuring software (Adobe, Bluebeam and Mudshark) – preferred but not essential
