A great opportunity to work in a client-side leadership role, on a One-year Fixed-Term Contract (with option for extension or Permanency).

You will need to be tertiary qualified in Construction, Project Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or Engineering along with 8+ years’ experience project managing major capex upgrades $30M+ or new build projects within Healthcare, Defence, Federal Government, State Government, Airports or Tertiary Education.

Base Criteria

Ideally degree-qualified in Architecture, Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or Engineering along with strong experience overseeing Capital Investment Projects.

Outline Duties

Support and manage the Client-side Projects Team in their effective oversight of major refurbishment projects as well as Capex investment projects across a large Healthcare portfolio, providing key leadership and direction to staff and client-side advice to contractors.

You will be ultimately responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of multiple concurrent building upgrades and new build capital investment works, advising and coordinating access with internal clinical stakeholders, while ensuring timescales are met.

Skills and Attributes 
  • Over 10 years’ industry experience, you will have gained at least 8 years Project Management experience within an organisation delivering Capital Works to a Hospital or similar critical environment.
  • You will have excellent Project Management skills, able to lead project and scope of works briefings with the internal client-side team, Clinical Stakeholders, Consultants or the Delivery Team, set and agree project timescales and costings.
  • You will be able to read and interpret Architectural Drawings and advise on any modifications required.
  • Technically capable, responsible for leading relationships with Project Managers and advising / making recommendations to the delivery team managing the contractors.
  • An excellent communicator, with strong English language skills, you will provide clear and concise instructions, management and written advice to direct staff, consultants, and the project delivery team, while liaising internally at Clinical Director and Board-level.
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and advise on capital works, design, documentation, and construction.
  • Engaging personality and strong presentation skills – you will be able to network and lead discussions at an executive level, while still working with a variety of interested parties / stakeholders of varying backgrounds and technical awareness.
