About the Role

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Team Leader in Electrical and Controls Engineering to spearhead the development of new production machines and drive innovation in manufacturing automation. This leadership role offers the chance to define cutting-edge control architectures and develop automation systems that integrate complex motion, robotics, and precision technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and implement controls architecture for new production machines, ensuring seamless integration with MES systems and process applications
  • Develop and apply best practices for software development, including CI/CD for controls software
  • Design and automate machinery using Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC, EtherCAT hardware, vision systems, robotics, and a variety of cutting-edge technologies (pneumatics, laser welding, UV curing, glue dispensing, etc.)
  • Lead the creation of standardized electrical and safety designs for new machines, adhering to industry codes and regulations
  • Manage and expand a high-performing team responsible for electrical and controls development
  • Develop personal growth plans for team members through training, leadership, and mentoring initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor members of manufacturing development and project teams
About You
  • Proven experience in automation, particularly in complex motion controls, new machine builds, or control system development for precision equipment
  • Background in intralogistics, materials handling, or assembly automation is highly desirable
  • Strong expertise in designing automation solutions for materials flow and complex automated systems
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage and grow a technical team
  • Proficiency in Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC programming and EtherCAT hardware (or similar platforms)
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $120k - $130k + Super
Location: Sydney, NSW
